1KM OF SILK FOR THE OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY

Kinetika was commissioned by Greenwich and Docklands International Festival to deliver a stunning project to welcome the Olympic Flame to London. Kinetika created our largest piece of hand dyed and printed silk to date (990 meters) which was used as a spectacular finale on The Mall. In addition, Kinetika artists worked with 100 schools in 11 London boroughs to produce a series of welcoming banners decorated the torch’s route.

THE BENGALI TIGER - 2006

Tower Hamlets Arts Team commissioned Kinetika to create a spectacular centrepiece for the annual Baishakhi Mela, celebrating the Bangladeshi New Year on Brick Lane. We consulted many local groups and it was a unanimous decision to create a large colourful Royal Bengal Tiger.

The Royal Bengal Tiger is a renowned symbol for Bengali culture and serves as a visual metaphor for the beauty, pride and grace of the country. The tiger, which is 6 metres long and 3 metres high, houses a sound system and has a small performance platform for storytelling, dance and DJs.
Following its success at the Baishakhi Mela, Tiger Out East toured to Trafalgar Square, the London Mela and The Lord Mayor’s Parade.
