KINETIKA PLAYS A PART AS THE OLYMPIC TORCH GOES THROUGH TOWER HAMLETS

On Sunday April 6th the Olympic Torch raced through Tower Hamlets as Kinetika performers wowed the crowds who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the famous flame.
The magnificent procession included the tiger and the emperor, along with carnival dancers and flag bearers from local schools.

The banners and flags were created by local schools working with Kinetika - St Matthias Primary School, Canon Barnett Primary School and the London East Academy at the East London Mosque.

Ali Pretty, Kinetika's Artistic Director said; " At Kinetika, we celebrate that the London Olympics will be truly inclusive event and what we are presenting today reflects that. The communities we have been working with and who are performing today are really excited about taking part. Kinetika seeks to play a major role in enabling as many young people across London's diverse communities to take part in the lead up to 2012 and beyond. "

The participation in this event reflects the work of Kinetika's umbrella project " ImagiNation Our Nation" which creates a story over five years, developing and evolving annually. Working with partners across the country, it celebrates and explores the current cultural landscape of the UK, creating a legacy of skills in the arts and inspiring a collective vision of the future.
