TI-JEAN AND HIS BROTHERS

Ti-Jean is a large scale spectacular outdoor show that tells a story of emancipation. Based on Derek Walcott’s play, Ti-jean succeeds where his brothers have failed when he beats the devil at his own game through intuition and wit.

The full Kinetika cast comprises 40 dancers, drummers, brass and woodwind players. They perform in large scale extravagant costumes and are accompanied by 3 giant articulated puppets over 15 ft tall, creating a unique event that pushes the boundaries of carnival and theatre.

“How does it feel to have the freedom to express yourself in 2007?”
“How has such freedom been won?"

Celebrate the bi-centenary of the abolition of slavery in the UK with Kinetika’s Ti-jean and his Brothers. It can be presented in parks, either as a promenade piece or staged, or as a carnival procession. The show can be tailored to suit your event and there are ample opportunities for community participation in both making and performance.
